Dry-type units range from compact distribution equipment to large ventilated assemblies. Exact ratings, enclosure condition and coil condition shape marketability.
The nameplate should show kVA, primary and secondary voltages, phase, frequency, temperature rise, insulation class and impedance. If winding material is documented, include it. Do not infer copper or aluminum from exterior appearance.

Used, unused and project-cancelled units
Unused equipment can still vary in value. Storage conditions, age, complete documentation and evidence that the unit was never energized all matter. For used equipment, include load history, maintenance records and any known overheating or noise concerns when available.

Enclosure and environment tell part of the story
Dry-type transformers depend on ventilation and insulation condition. Document whether a unit was used indoors or outdoors, whether it was exposed to water, dust or corrosive conditions, and whether the enclosure remains complete. Blocked vents, water marks, contamination and heat discoloration should be shown directly.
If the transformer has been stored, explain whether it was protected from weather and how long it has been idle. A unit described as unused should still be photographed on every side so storage damage can be assessed.

Coil construction and winding material
Terms such as open-wound, encapsulated and cast-coil describe different dry-type construction methods. Use the manufacturer documentation or nameplate when available rather than choosing a term from appearance alone. Likewise, identify copper or aluminum windings only when the equipment record supports it.
