Preserve dry-type transformers
Keep a dry-type transformer clean, dry, protected from condensation, and ventilated according to its manual. Do not wrap the unit in a way that traps moisture. Keep openings, fans, louvers, terminals, and insulators covered against dust while preserving the airflow or clearances specified by the manufacturer. Inspect for rust, dirt, water marks, cracked insulation, loose hardware, pest activity, and evidence of impact. Avoid using the transformer as a shelf or placing loads on its enclosure. Prepare the unit for a buyer review
A useful submission lets a buyer assess fit without guessing. Send clear photos of the full unit, nameplate, bushings, gauges, enclosure, accessories, and any damage. Include the exact quantity and whether units are matching, the current location, indoor or outdoor storage conditions, approximate dimensions and weight, and whether loading equipment or a clear route is available. State whether the transformer is energized, de-energized, tested, drained, leaking, or sold as-is. Include purchase documents, manuals, inspection reports, winding or insulation test results, oil analysis, repair history, and chain-of-custody or environmental records when available.
