Start with the transformer’s identity and status
The fastest way to narrow the field is to describe the equipment accurately. Photograph the complete nameplate and the exterior from several angles. Record the manufacturer, serial number, kVA or MVA rating, primary and secondary voltage, phase, frequency, cooling class, impedance if shown, tap arrangement, dimensions, approximate weight, location and present condition. Compare offers on certainty, not just price
Use the same equipment packet for every prospective counterparty, then compare written terms line by line. A higher headline figure can lose its advantage if it is conditional on later inspection, excludes rigging, leaves fluids or accessories behind, or shifts a regulatory task back to the owner. Conversely, a lower offer with explicit scope may be easier to evaluate and administer.
Ask each party to identify its intended disposition: resale, repair, parts recovery or recycling. That answer should fit the transformer’s condition and the records you have supplied. An offer is more comparable when it states the exact asset, inclusions, inspection rights, acceptance point, payment mechanics, title transfer and the treatment of rejected equipment.
